Local Bites Privacy

Privacy Protocol

Local Bites is designed with a privacy-first architecture. This protocol outlines how your data is handled during your discovery ritual. By using Local Bites, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Location Data Usage

To provide accurate restaurant discovery, the App requires access to your location services. This data is used **exclusively while the App is in use** to scout nearby establishments. We do not perform background tracking, nor do we store your location history on our servers.

Data Storage & Retention

We do not maintain user accounts. All preferences and last-known location labels are stored **locally on your device** via AsyncStorage. We do not transmit or store personally identifiable information (PII) on any external server.

Data Deletion

Because all data is stored locally, you maintain absolute control. You can clear your discovery data at any time by clearing the App's cache or uninstalling the application. This action permanently deletes all locally stored preferences and location labels.

Children's Privacy

Local Bites does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Third Party Services

We utilize the following service providers to facilitate the App's features:

  • OpenStreetMap / Overpass API: For live restaurant data scouting.
  • Expo / Apple / Google Location: For precise on-device positioning.
  • Lucide: For interface iconography.
